Halloween is the perfect holiday for learning how to take care of your inner child, but adults of all ages can celebrate too. When you think of Halloween, you probably imagine children dressed up in the fun and exciting costumes, trick or treating, and tons of candy. However, Halloween is not only for the children. Adults can have as much fun as children on Halloween.
Halloween is a memorable holiday because it allows children and adults to let their imaginations run wild as they create costumes, eat candy, watch Horror movies, or partying. There are plenty of ways for adults to learn how to take care of their inner child and celebrate Halloween. So, today, I will discuss three ways you can embrace and take care of your inner child on Halloween.
Before I get into it, I want to talk about what it means to have an inner child.
What is Your Inner Child?
The term inner child is a psychological phrase used to describe someone’s childlike attributes. It’s the part of you that is needy, requires a lot of attention, and needs to be consistently loved. Someone with an inner child usually suffers from early childhood trauma such as abuse, neglect, or mental health illnesses.
Learning how to connect with your inner child and protect and care for them takes time and understanding. Your inner child helps you identify the root behind specific phobias, identify toxic or bad habits, and release pent-up emotions. Halloween is the perfect holiday for learning to take care of your inner child.
Most children love Halloween. But they’re not the only ones. Halloween is an all-inclusive holiday which adults can also celebrate (without alcohol or sex). So, with the right mindset and a bit of optimism, any adult can celebrate Halloween in a child-like manner.

How To Take Care For Your Inner Child On Halloween
Wear Your Favorite Costume
Has your mom or dad ever banned you from wearing a specific costume? Have you ever been told that you looked “too” grown in certain things? If so, now is your chance to try out those costumes and make yourself feel good. Head over to Party City or your local Halloween shop and pick out an outfit that you would’ve loved as a child.

Attend a Family-Friendly Halloween Party
Every child loves to go to parties. So put your best Halloween costume and makeup on and go to a family-friendly party filled with games, candy, and good food. Your inner child will appreciate the effort you’re putting into making them feel happy and safe. Let yourself run wild and have fun with the other child at the party. Don’t hold back.
Eat Halloween Candy
You cannot celebrate Halloween without eating candy. So grab your trick or treat bag or basket and munch on your favorite candy brands. Most children love to indulge with multiple candy bars, lollipops, gum, and more as the night ends on Halloween. So break your healthy diet for one night, and let yourself indulge a little bit. Trust me. Your inner child will love it.
Why Is It Important to Take Care Of Your Inner Child?
Learning to take care of your inner child reveals and hides the truth of your past trauma. Learning to take care of your inner child is important because it helps you build self-love, confidence, and worth. With your inner child, you can also learn to become more spontaneous and playful and consider what life offers with a greater sense of wonder.
If your inner child is suffering, you can heal them through different acts of mindfulness, self-care, and self-love. But your inner child can also lend you strength: Regaining youthful feelings of wonder, optimism, and simple joy in life can help bolster confidence and well-being.
