Raise your hand if you remember when you could eat three whole pizzas without gaining weight. How about when you used to write in a diary? You’re not alone. Unfortunately, those days slowly disappear as we age and encounter life circumstances. However, many young adults under 30 tend to put themselves on the back burner–behind working long 50-hour shift weeks, starting a family, or going to class.

As you enter this new decade of life, your priorities and perspectives shift. Your 30s bring new challenges, responsibilities, and opportunities for personal growth. As a result, taking care of your physical and mental well-being becomes even more crucial during this transformative period. In this post, I will explore the importance of maintaining specific lifestyle routines that can make navigating your 30s much easier. In addition, I will discuss how certain healthy habits can enhance your overall well-being, allowing you to thrive and embrace all this decade offers. So, let’s delve into these essential habits that will empower you to live your best life in your 30s.

Why Is It Important To Live Healthily In Your 30s?

Living healthily in your 30s is paramount as it sets the tone for future generations. This pivotal decade is when your body’s natural resilience changes, and investing in your health becomes even more critical. By adopting healthy habits, such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and adequate sleep, you can minimize the risk of developing chronic diseases and maintain optimal physical and mental well-being.

Prioritizing self-care and practicing mindfulness also helps you navigate the inevitable stressors of career advancements, family responsibilities, and other life changes. By embracing a healthy lifestyle in your 30s, you lay a strong foundation for a vibrant, fulfilling future, enabling you to make the most of every opportunity that comes your way.

The Difference Between Your 20s and 30s

Living healthily in your 20s and 30s can present different challenges and priorities. In your 20s, you may have enjoyed a relatively carefree lifestyle, exploring new experiences and pushing your limits. However, as you transition into your 30s, your body and mind undergo changes that call for a more mindful approach to health. In your 30s, the focus shifts towards establishing sustainable habits that promote long-term well-being.

This includes making choices supporting your physical health, such as maintaining a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and prioritizing sleep. Additionally, mental and emotional well-being becomes increasingly essential, and practices like stress management, self-care, and seeking mental health support when needed become crucial. Embracing healthy living in your 30s allows you to adapt to the demands of this stage in life, nurture your overall health, and set the stage for a vibrant and fulfilling future.

Between new jobs, new relationships, families, classes, and new cities, a lot changes in your 30s. But you can take control of these situations by setting new healthy habits for yourself. Why now? Because the habits you develop during that time—good or bad—will likely stick with you. What you do now will affect your overall health once you’re in your 30s. This is why building these healthy habits is crucial.

Now that you know why you must live a healthy lifestyle and how to stick to a healthy routine, here are 32 healthy habits to have in your 30s.

Healthy Habits to Have In Your 30s

Healthy Eating Habits

  1. Snack on fruits and nuts instead of sweets and chips, And eat vegetables with every meal!
  2. Drink Water
  3. Don’t count calories. It never ends well. Instead, focus on the nutritional facts. It’s not easy, but ensuring you eat more foods with some nutritional value is better than limiting calories and feeling miserable or afraid to eat.
  4. Follow the rule of 80:20 when it comes to healthy eating. After following a healthy diet during the week, treat yourself to your favorite fast food or sugary drink on Sunday.
  5. Do not say that you’re on a diet. This is a lifestyle choice. You are choosing health, nothing else. Choosing health means eating nutrients and vitamins while knowing that mental health matters, too, so if some cake cheers me up, I’ll eat it.
  6. Make healthier food choices and be conscious of how much you’re eating.
  7. Make your plate colorful. Eat various fruits, veggies, meats, dairy, and grains daily.

  3. Try using the Down Dog app for at-home workouts. In the app, you can select which muscle groups to focus on. Then, the system will match a sequence of workouts complete with music and voice instructions based on your input!

  3. The best thing is to start with whatever knowledge you have and keep building on it. It’s hard to go from zero to hero and is entirely unsustainable. Making small changes here and there makes it more of a lifestyle change.
  4. Start small enough to be consistent, for example, swapping a sugary drink for water once a day.
  5. Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. We all meet milestones at different times and other ways, so enjoy the ride.

  5. It’s all about mindset. To be healthy and happy on the outside, you must be satisfied and fit inside, too. So concentrate on your mental health first every time.
  6. Keep a journal
