June 2021 Monthly Blog Review

Did you achieve your monthly goals? Check out how my blog, Riyah Speaks, performed throughout June.

June was an exciting, rewarding, and insane month. Since so many holidays and events happened this month, I chose not to have a blogging theme. Instead, I focused on Father’s Day, sharing more personal stories and generalized self-care. Not only did my 24th birthday recently pass, but I hit several blogging and sales milestones which I will discuss in this monthly blog review.

June Monthly Blog Review

This month I focused on increasing my blog traffic from Pinterest and my email newsletter, and I’m starting to gain quite a bit of traffic from these sources. However, I noticed that I rarely got any social media traffic from Instagram and Twitter due to recent algorithm changes, which led me to try a new social media marketing strategy.

If you’re a blogger, I recommend paying for and taking Ell’s Pinterest Course. That class was worth every dime I spent. However, before I review sales in this monthly blog review, let’s check some blog stats.

Blog Stats

  • Sales Revenue:
    • Etsy: $157.31
    • Gumroad. $5
  • Pageviews: 2,476
  • Number of Email Subscribers: 53
  • FB Followers: 192
  • FB Likes: 177
  • IG Followers: 574
  • Pinterest Views: 56k
  • Pinterest Followers: 500

Monthly Blog Review

Ever since I started investing my time and money into social media and email marketing, there’s been an uptick in blog traffic from those sources. However, my overall page views dropped this month. Part of it concerns that I recently got a new job and struggled to balance full-time work with full-time blogging.

Sales Review

This month I made slightly above what I made last month. However, I did not reach my collective sales goals. However, I sold several pins and shirts and recently switched providers.

Most Sold Product

My most sold product was my Mental Health Matters pin which I made in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month last month. Also, I made my first Dimensions of Self Care Workbook sale. So, to support your favorite blogger, you should consider buying this shirt from me on Etsy or grabbing a copy of my workbooks and planners on the shop.

Major Wins

This month, I took some time to focus on increasing my SEO ranking and blog traffic through social media and email marketing. This resulted in two things:

  • Generating an extra 200-300 views from Pinterest
  • Increasing traffic from my subscriber list

While reviewing my email subscriber list, I noticed many people who never or rarely opened my emails. This led me to purge my email list and archive/unsubscribe anyone who has not opened an email in the last 60 days. Although there is a lot of controversy surrounding this strategy, it worked in my favor.

Also, Ell’s strategies in her Pinterest courses are starting to kick in, and I’m seeing drastic changes in blog traffic coming from Pinterest.

July Blogging Theme

For July, I decided to focus on a summer theme. So, I’ll share my favorite summer wellness, self-care, and self-love tips and products I love using throughout the summer. Also, I will do a few promotional posts outlined within the disclaimer at the top of every post.

My July Goals

  • Make more than $200 in Etsy Sales
  • Sell more items on Gumroad
  • Increase blog traffic from Pinterest

Did you accomplish your monthly goals? Let me know in the comments.
