Self-care isn’t only about buying cute stuff and a skincare routine. Read this post if you want to be a minimalist and have a clutter-free self-care day!

Real self-care is far more than complicated skincare routines or adding more items to your cart. Practicing self-care through avenues that don’t create excess clutter is more important. My suggestion is to downsize your junk and be open to space.
Here are some clutter-free self-care activities you should consider to live a simpler life:
Clutter-Free Self-Care Ideas
Be One With Nature
The answer to your self-care dilemma might be right outside your front door. Whether it’s a stroll around the neighborhood, a weekend hike with friends, or even just planting your feet in the grass of your backyard, these actions will ground you and provide you with a sense of peace, Vitamin D, and fresh air.
There are other ways you can use nature for self-care, plus it’s excellent for improving your mental health. For example, many enjoy meditating, camping, playing with animals, rafting, or gardening. With warm weather, it’s the perfect time to practice self-care without cluttering your home.
Borrow/Book Swap
Books have become my go-to self-care activity since quarantine. An excellent alternative would be to borrow or swap books with friends or visit your local library. There are tons of free books available on Apple Books. Don’t let the clutter of a bookshelf get in the way of knowledge.
Spend Quality Time With People Who Lift Your Spirits
Call up a close friend or family member and have a chat. No matter how old I get, a phone call with my mom on my worst days ALWAYS helps. Look to those in your community (the right ones) to lift your spirits and add a bit of joy to your days. We sometimes forget how powerful quality time and conversation are in this world. Even if it’s a DM from a fellow blogger friend, those moments are the ones that brighten my mood.
Watching a Comfort Show or Movie
My husband and I finished all the Marvel movies on Disney+. Streaming services have been our best purchases of the last couple of years. Our shelves aren’t cluttered with DVDs, and everything is compact on one system. I love watching comfort TV series like F.R.I.E.N.D.S. These couch potato moments help recharge my batteries for a productive week.
Although it may not seem like it, watching an enjoyable movie or show can lift your mood and help you unwind, especially after a long day or holiday.

Declutter Your Space
One of my all-time favorite pastimes is decluttering my home, organizing it, and cleaning it. It may sound neurotic, but I can promise you that if your home is clean and put together, your life will follow suit, and you’ll have even more time for other forms of self-care. Even during my most stressful moments (like wedding planning), I keep up with chores and errands around the house. That way, when I return from a busy day, I can retreat to my sanctuary.
Although decluttering my home is my favorite self-care activity, there are other forms of decluttering I’d encourage you to try out, such as digital decluttering or minimalism. This includes limiting your social media time, deleting unused apps, limiting time spent streaming movies or shows, and batch-scheduling your digital tasks.

OFC! Thank you for writing this lovely guest post!
As someone who truly believes in “Simple living, High thinking,” I agree with your points. For me, being close to nature truly helped me lead the life I want to live. Mother Nature is everything!
Hi,
Thanks for reading this post. I’ve started learning more about connecting with nature and it’s helping me a lot in terms of self-care.
great advise! I do love going through my stuff and decluttering. Book swapping is so much fun! it feels like a treasure hunt to me!
I’ve actually never done book swapping, but now that I’ve learned about it through this guest post, I will definitely give it a try.
During the quarantine, I found two little free libraries in my neighborhood and I love taking walks with my husband to go and visit them. It has become a weekly routine, and it is so much fun for me. A great self-care method of getting out and going for a walk, as well as finding new books to read.
I love going to the library, especially on my free time. Reading and taking long walks is an excellent form of self-care and probably one of my favorites for learning to unwind after dealing with many stressors.
I like to choose one thing from each of your blog posts to focus on for my next week – this week it is leaning into the book exchange philosophy. Thank you
