In this post, I share my experience with EFT tapping and how Andrea Hunt helped me overcome my anxiety and negative beliefs.
I’m always open to learning new ways to manage my emotions, mental health, and overall well-being. As someone who suffers from depression, anxiety, and general mental health issues, it’s essential for me to constantly check in with myself and keep track of when I’m becoming overwhelmed or when my mental health starts to deteriorate.
I was so happy when Andrea Hunt contacted me for a complimentary EFT tapping session in exchange for an honest review. I’ve always been intrigued by different therapy practices and ways to improve my health without needing medication. So, today I will share my experience with Andrea’s EFT tapping session. But first, let’s go over what EFT is.
What Is EFT?
EFT tapping, also known as the emotional freedom technique, is a form of therapy that focuses on restoring and balancing your inner energy by tapping specific body points such as the crow of your head, under the eye, neck, and heart.
This powerful meditation technique is based on the art of Chinese acupuncture. EFT combines the teachings of modern-day medicine with alternative methods such as talk therapy and tai chi.
The goal is to overcome negative emotions, limiting beliefs, and stress and improve mental health by shifting the negative energy and replacing it with a positive and more encouraging one. In EFT tapping, you focus on a specific negative emotion and tap on the meridian points associated with those emotions.

- Think of a negative person, emotion, or thing currently bothering you. It can be anything.
- Tap on the part of your hand where you would do a Karate chop. Make sure to focus on the negative emotion or thing you choose. While you’re tapping this part of your hand, start by saying, “EVEN THOUGH… I feel XYZ emotion; I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
- Tap on the meridian points of your body. Use phrases such as “this stress, this worry, this emotion,…etc.” as your tapping. During this round, you acknowledge how you’re feeling.
- Check in with yourself. Make sure you’re feeling okay, and note any changes in emotions.
- Move on to the positive round. As you tap, acknowledge the negative and replace it with a positive.

Who Is Andrea Hunt?
Andrea has a fascinating personal growth journey. She’s a certified life coach and EFT practitioner from Minnesota who lives in Munich, Germany. However, she has lots of experience working and studying worldwide in Mexico, China, and the United Kingdom.
Throughout her experience, she’s learned multiple languages and even discovered some of herself. In addition, she runs a personal growth and wellness blog on her site, DreaHunt, where she shares ex-pat, mindset, personal development, health, and wellness tips and ideas.
Andrea is one of the sweetest people I know. She truly cares about her clients and constantly seeks new ways to help someone around her.
My Experience With EFT Tapping
Before my EFT session, I was asked to come up with three things that have been bothering me recently. The three negative situations I chose were my inability to create healthy boundaries with family, my mental health, and my self-confidence within my relationship. Ultimately, Andrea decided to stick with creating healthy boundaries because it was the one I was the most pent-up about.
We started the session with the karate chop tapping method. Andrea showed me the proper tapping rhythm and explained why we started with the karate chop. After I finally got the rhythm and felt comfortable with this meridian point, we worked through my stressors by creating healthy familial boundaries.
I was amazed at how on point she was with how I was feeling during the negative round. I was surprised. But this made me feel better and made going through EFT tapping easier. This also let me know she genuinely listened to me and cared about my words.
After processing the negative emotions, we took a brief break to check my feelings. At that moment, I was not sure. I couldn’t pinpoint my feelings, but it didn’t feel good. Andrea could tell how conflicted I was and helped me discuss these feelings and why I thought them.
The next part of the EFT tapping session involved turning those negative feelings into positive ones through affirmational and encouraging statements. During this part of the session, Andrea had me repeat, “I am worthy of love and forgive myself,” at the end of each word. Again, similar to my experience with hypnosis, I was shocked to see how much happier and less pent-up I felt.
After going through the positive round, I was still feeling slightly out of it, so we did an additional one to reaffirm my earlier statements. This helped me to feel a lot better.
My Final Thoughts
My EFT tapping experience with Andrea was exciting and helped me realize how limiting and negative my thoughts can sometimes be. Although I’m typically skeptical of alternative medicines and techniques, I enjoyed this session. I felt a little better and was not as emotionally upset about my inability to set healthy boundaries with my family as I was initially.
As always, I’d advise you to research and ask questions before trying anything. However, I was thankful enough to have researched and read Andrea’s work to know that I could trust Andrea. For some people, EFT tapping is powerful enough to help them start their healing and self-care journeys. For others, it might not be.

I love EFT and I’m glad it helped you process some emotions.
I believe in holistic therapies anyway, but a few previous EFT sessions I had really helped me.

It was an interesting experience for me to say the least. I’m considering on doing it again.

The problem is, there is no scientific research that supports acupuncture or tapping beyound the placebo effect. Fake acupuncture and tapping is just as effective. But I’m all for using the placebo effect for doing good, as long as you’re honest that’s what you’re doing. As interestingly, the placebo effect can still work even when you know it’s a placebo
Seriah Sargenton says
Of course there is no scientific proof, because it’s based on Chinese medical practice that date before the 100 BCE. Just because there is no science, does not mean that it’s any less effective or fake. I wouldn’t call this a placebo effect. Prior to science, most people relied on herbs and natural remedies which are equally as affective and sometimes better than modern medical practices. I do agree that if its a placebo, then acknowledge it as os, but in this case, it wasn’t a placebo.
There have been a lot of studies that do prove that acupuncture can relieve pain, such as the ones mention dust https://www.pacificcollege.edu/news/blog/2021/08/17/the-science-behind-acupuncture
and for EFT tapping at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6381429/

Molly @ Transatlantic Notes says
This was a really interesting read as I don’t actually know much about EFT; I have seen it mentioned by a number of people though so I was curious. Thanks for sharing this info, it seems like it could be another really beneficial technique to add to a mental health ‘toolkit’.
Seriah Sargenton says
Hi Molly,
EFT Tapping I do think is another thing we can add to some people’s mental health kit. For some people this may not be beneficial, and that’s okay. hope this works out for you.

I currently have a friend who in the past has done acupuncture. She really liked it. I did not know about EFT. I am glad I read this and got to know more about EFT.
Seriah Sargenton says
Hi,
Thanks for reading. I have dabbled and thought about acupuncture, but I didn’t fully understand the extent of EFT tapping until I met Andrea.

We love EFT! It has been truly life changing for our daughter’s anxiety and even some of our toddler temper tantrums. Highly recommend for others.

I am a fan of alternative medicine and enjoyed reading about your experiences with EFT. I’ve watched a few videos about it and tried a few techniques on myself a few years ago. But this is the first time I’ve read about someone’s experience with a full EFT session, so thanks for sharing.
Seriah Sargenton says
George, I’m happy you’ve tried it with yourself. Have you ever thought about trying out an EFT session with a life coach or someone specializing in it? What was your experience with it like?
George McMillan JR. says
I tried it while following along on a webinar. I think it had to do with money blocks and limiting beliefs. I did feel some relief and the process made sense, but it wasn’t enough of a change to keep doing it. If it was for a different type of emotional issue, maybe I would’ve felt a bigger change.
Jenny in Neverland says
Glad you had a great session with Andrea! I love Andrea’s sessions, I’ve done two now and am working with her again in November to share something exciting which I’m buzzing about. You’re right, she’s really one of the sweetest and really cares about her clients and sessions. I feel so comfortable with her too, which you really need with these sort of sessions.
Seriah Sargenton says
Jenny, I’m so happy I’m not the only one who thinks this. I felt a little weird at first, spilling my guts out to her the way I did, but it felt so natural, and she took care of me well. I’m pleased to have worked with her and plan to do it again soon.
