06 Ways To Easily Squeeze Self-Care Into A Busy Schedule
Even the busiest schedules can make room for self-care. Here are some practical tips for finding time for self-care, no matter how packed your calendar may be.

We all know that self-care is essential. We all need to prioritize taking care of ourselves, but how can we squeeze self-care when our schedule is full of tasks, and our to-do lists are overwhelming? Prepare to draw some inspiration from this post.
You are in the right place if you aspire to practice self-care daily but struggle to squeeze it into your busy schedule. Many of us can quickly start, but committing daily is different. It can be hard to be consistent with it, especially at busy times, but it’s not impossible. You can still practice your favorite self-care activities despite your busy schedule.
But first, what is self-care? Self-care is caring for your health, body, mind, and soul. It involves yourself in activities that promote well-being and reduce stress. If you scroll into Instagram, you will see that self-care is a significant pop phrase. You’ll see many quotes about it and realize it is as important as exercise or mental health.
Cliché as it may sound, it’s true that self-care is not selfish. We all need to fill our cups first before others. We must take care of and prioritize our bodies to keep and maintain a healthy relationship with ourselves.
It’s about time to nourish yourself and put energy into things that make you happy. The better you take care of yourself, the more prepared you are for the day, so carve out some time from your busy schedule to let your mind relax. Here are six tips so you can squeeze self-care into your busy schedules.
How To Squeeze Self-Care
1. Create your rituals
Creating your rituals saves you a lot of time. It’s more effective when you find your flow, such as Sunday self-care, Friday fun day, unwired Wednesday, or Thursday night self-care.
I find Sunday as the best fit for self-care. I always make sure to leave on Sundays for activities that I enjoy. I love doing Zumba, visiting cafes, calling a close friend or family, and taking a warm bath at night. Self-care is all about finding balance after a long week of work and more extra work. We all lead stressful lives nowadays, especially with the Pandemic, so finding balance in our routines is essential.
Rituals don’t have to take a long time. It can be ten minutes of reading before bed, 20 minutes of walking after dinner, or journaling after waking up. These rituals are designed to help your mental health.
2. Rise an hour early
If you lead a busy life yet want to find time to take care of yourself, rise an hour early in the morning. This way, you can enjoy slow mornings, have a healthy breakfast, and have a brighter day. It can take a lot of effort to rise early in the morning, but it is worth it.
3. Plan ahead
If you’re struggling to find time for self-care, the best thing to do is plan. Schedule your next massage or workout. Book a yoga class or a trip in advance, and follow these even if an urgent matter arises. Give yourself a little self-love and be kinder to your body. You deserve it!
Use your vacation and plan a fantastic trip, or schedule a “ME Time.” In Japan, where I live, self-care is so underrated. People work long hours, and they rarely use their vacation leave. But people who work long hours are usually prone to illnesses.
Taking a break improves your performance at work, so take that vacation you’ve been planning. Plan out your self-care days and stick to them.

4. Squeeze in some exercise
Moving your body is crucial to self-care. And there are many ways to squeeze in exercise in your busy schedule. For example, I like to utilize my breaks at work and go for a walk. If you’re working at home, do some squats every time you open the fridge. One of my friends chose to live near a gym to quickly and regularly exercise. You can utilize such perks without disrupting your busy schedule. The possibilities are endless.
5. Relax before bed
If your schedule is packed daily, relaxing before bed is necessary. Leave an hour to relax before bed, giving you more energy the next day. I love to dim the lights and listen to music to relax after a long day. Then, you can take a warm bath, wear face masks, or light a candle.
Remember that self-care is not just putting on some masks and feeling good. There is more to it. When piled up and not managed properly, stress can cause serious illness. That’s why it is crucial to take care of ourselves after a long, stressful day. And the simple ways we do make a big difference overall. So, taking a 5-minute meditation is essential. So, relax at night with some of your favorite night routines.
6. Have enough good sleep
A busy schedule may leave you little time for sleep, but sleep is essential. Sleep is the best meditation, as Dalai Lama said. A solid eight hours of sleep makes so much difference in my day. I don’t know about you, but I cannot function well without sleep.
Even if you can’t make time for self-care during the day, you can still have a better day when you have a good sleep. Sleep improves our mood and brightens the day.
Conclusion
Finding time to care for yourself in a busy week is essential and enables us to live a fuller and happier life. So take these tips with you and make time for self-care and self-love. Here are more self-care tips for your inspiration. So, what self-care activities do you do on your busy days?

Planning ahead is my go-to for everything! I like to try and relax before bed also 🙂 x
Caroline,
Same here.
love the tips they are easy and doable. I always try to squeeze in some exercise running and walking to keep me sane 🙂
Jeannie,
I always try to add some yoga into my schedules or some journaling that way I know that I am practicing self-care at least once everyday.
Great tips.
I get up early usually and I feel so much better for organising the following day in my planner before bed.
I also agree that a spare 10 minutes can be a lovely self-care refresh.
Hi,
That’s a great habit to have. I am learning how to organize and plan ahead of time that way I can have more time to myself
These are all amazing tips! I am very bad at waking up earlier than I need to, but I found that planning ahead really helps me, mostly during the early mornings! Really need to create some rituals x
I like the idea of getting up earlier but it is hard when it is dark. Getting exercise definitely improves sleep.
I am a huge self care advocate. Being a mom I know that it is important for everyone, especially for those individuals who have to give to others everyday. Getting up early doesn’t really work for me because I love my sleep. But planning ahead is where I can get the most benefit. I make appointments with myself for self care so I don’t get overlooked.
I love this! Even 5 minutes is enough time to close your eyes and do a few minutes of deep breathing, or take a walk outside and breath in the fresh air. This is a busy month which means self-care is even more important to get in!
Kaybee,
Yes! All we need is 5 minutes to ourselves to get some self-care. I hope you found these tips helpful.

I enjoyed this read! Personally, my self-care game has increased ten fold this year after the first half being so stressful. Sleep is something that I am prioritizing more than anything these days. I’m also waking up earlier and getting more done during the day.
Hello,
Thanks for reading! I believe my self-care game has also gotten a lot better this year, plus I learned how to value myself more.
