How To Overturn A Bad Day
Overturning a bad day can be challenging, but it’s possible with effort and a positive mindset. One way to start is by taking a break and doing something you enjoy, such as walking or listening to your favorite music. Reframing negative thoughts and focusing on positive aspects of the day is also helpful.
Practicing gratitude and mindfulness can be effective techniques for shifting your mindset and improving your mood. Additionally, reaching out to a friend or loved one for support can provide comfort and help you gain perspective. Remember that bad days happen to everyone, and taking a step back and prioritizing your well-being is okay. With some self-care and a positive attitude, you can turn your day around and end it on a high note.
Whatever is on your mind, this blog post offers six tips to turn a bad day into a good one or to boost your mood while you experience this low time.
6 Tips For Improving Your Day
1. Don’t mistake one bad thing for a bad day
We all do this. Everything is going well until 2 pm, and then we crash and act like we’ve had a terrible day. But this isn’t the case- it’s just that our mood has dropped, we’ve received some bad news, or we’re not physically feeling our best at that time of day.
Try to explain to yourself that this feeling is temporary and you won’t feel down forever. This is a little bump in the road, but it doesn’t mean you didn’t have a good day before this, and it doesn’t mean your mood won’t spike back up later in the day.
2. Put on some music
You might not think so, but putting on music is one of the best ways to deal with a bad day. Stick to songs you can sing along to or instantly make you feel happier.
It’s so important to have a playlist of these songs all ready to go so you can hit play and make your bad day feel slightly better.
3. Call your friend
I’m sure your friend has called you when they’ve been having a bad day, and if they’re a good friend, they will be happy to chat about anything on your mind- or nothing at all!
If you feel at a loose end or a bit off, call your friend and see if it improves your mood.
4. Go outside
If you’re having a bad day, one of the best things you can do is force yourself to go outside. Stand in the sun for 10 minutes or go for a brisk walk.
It won’t solve your problems and might not make you feel better, but there’s nothing worse than wallowing in your problems.
So, if you can leave the house, push yourself to get out for a walk or soak up vitamin D in your garden.

5. Head out to nature
Find nature in your local area so you can go if you’re having a bad day. This might be a park with a serene lake or just your backyard.
Being surrounded by nature is fantastic for your mental health and can be a great way to calm down if you’re stressed.
This is particularly enjoyable during the Spring and Summer months, as you can head out further afield and enjoy warm weather while exploring local nature.
You’d be surprised what it can do for your mental health and your mood.
6. Stick to healthy foods
If you’re having a bad day, heading to sweet treats and unhealthy snacks can be easy. There’s nothing wrong with this, and you should indulge yourself if you want. However, indulging in lots of sugar will make you feel much worse afterward, and healthy snacks are a better idea.
If you’re having a bad day, it can also help to cook a healthy meal.
This will give you a sense of accomplishment, and you’ll be filling your body with healthy food that can be used as an energy or a nice mood boost later in the day.

I love this so much! Number 1 got me the most… I have found EFT tapping to be incredibly helpful for ‘turning a day around’ and not making knee jerk global assessments
Same here Laura, ever since I learned EFT tapping my mindset has become sooo much better.
Such a good point about not taking one bad thing and letting it ruin your entire mood or the whole day.
Yes, that one is pretty important but I also feel like I struggle with this bullet the most.
Nature and moving around help me most. and yes it’s very common to mistake one bad thing or even a “hiccup” with a bad day in general
You’re so right Lyosha. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve let one small thing determine the mood for the entire day.
I am so guilty of one bad thing meaning a bad day, and I’ve been making an effort to keep it small instead of letting it blow up into something far bigger than it deserves to be. Speed bumps are not full blown roadblocks, is what I try to tell myself.
That’s a good way to change your mindset and flip the switch Erica.
Excellent suggestions for improving your outlook on bad days – I love to turn on some upbeat music, or take a walk outdoors too!
I love listening to upbeat music and dancing too!
Each tip is very helpful. Taking walks outdoors and eating chocolate are 2 things that I enjoy and appreciate. Thank you so much for sharing this post. ☺️

Good idea about the healthy food! And love the first part about not mistaking a thing for a bad day. Just keep moving throughout the day like it’s a good day!
YES, exactly. We cannot let every little thing mess up the day for us.
