Everybody needs a life purpose that motivates them to get up in the mornings and embrace the day, a reason to live, love, and laugh!

Finding your life purpose is significant because it will influence and guide your life’s decisions, goals, behavior, and sense of direction.  In this article, I’m going to share with you three actionable tips on identifying and getting on your life purpose.

But before we do that, let’s answer a fundamental question…What is purpose in life? and more importantly, what is my life purpose?

What Is A Life Purpose?

If we look at life objectively, we can conclude that every living organism is technically a community of trillions of cells. All those cells have a specific purpose – To survive and eventually reproduce.

In the modern-day human world, however, we live way beyond survival and thus, start looking for more meaningful goals that reflect and bring about a greater purpose.

Usually, this greater purpose is linked to specific dreams, goals, and aspirations in our minds. A sense of purpose has been scientifically proven to improve mental and physical health since it is adaptive and evolutionary throughout your life.

Examples Of Life Purpose

People have been musing over the word ‘life purpose’ since it was first coined in the early 1800’s. The idea tat we were all created for something bigger than ourselves is one that guides the very existence of what it means to be human.

For this reason, NOT having a purpose can be pretty destructive to anyone’s life. It means that you have no guiding path and you’re essentially not contributing to improving or greatening the outside world. There are many ways a person may find the purpose of life. But, not many people do. So, before we dive into how to find your life purpose and unlock it, let’s take a look at some purpose in life examples.

  • Inspire the community to do something life-changing (Martin Luther King Jr.)
  • Educate, mentor, or guide children
  • Give back and improve the community that raised you
  • To fight for something you believe in
  • Save and help animals
  • Create outstanding medical discoveries
  • Empower others spiritually
  • To become a symbol or pillar in the community

If you’re still asking, ‘What is my purpose in life, then don’t worry. Here’ are three tips for finding and unlocking your life purpose.

How To Find Purpose In Life

Your purpose is not something you pick. Instead, it is something that kind of “unlocks” during the process of introspection & analysis of one’s life experience. Finding your purpose in life is one of those things that every human wants to do. As nice as it would be to live your life with purpose, it can be hard to do when you don’t understand what that is.

So, here are three ways you can unlock your life purpose quicker!

Give Time, Talent, or Money

Some studies suggest that those who give will experience a great sense of meaning in their lives, whereas happiness is more linked to taking.

When you give your time to a charity organization by volunteering, sharing your talent with others, or donating money to worthwhile causes, you will feel a great sense of meaning and purpose in your life.

Doing something kind for someone in your community is the first step to unlocking your purpose in life, whether handing out meals to the homeless, showcasing your art, or giving some of your riches to those in need.

Keep on giving your time, talent, or money to different causes, and your path will follow a natural road towards your purpose.

Explore Your Personality and Interests

Many people go through life without knowing themselves, having no idea about their interests, weaknesses, strengths, or even how their behavior affects their circumstances. But, understanding your personality, quirks, and interest will help you to connect with your life purpose.

To unlock your life purpose, you have to be more self-aware; the only way you can do that is by exploring your own personality and interests. Explore your personality by becoming more self-aware during anything you do, and ask your friends and family for feedback.

Ask them for their honesty on how they perceive you and your behavior so that you can get an excellent 3rd personal perspective! Most of all, discover what activities you enjoy most and whether you like the occupation you are currently in; these things are usually a reflection of your passions, skills, and talents.

Think of it this way: Throughout your life, you’ve collected the pieces of a puzzle, but you’ve lost the box and can’t possibly see the result without putting the pieces together.

Try New Things

If you are stuck in a rut and feel like your life has no meaning, you must get out of your comfort zone and try new activities and pastimes.  Are you regularly engaging in conversations on specific topics or activities without having actively participated in these things before? Then, you might want to try it out!

When you enjoy talking about history or gardening with friends, why aren’t you taking history classes or pursuing a little green garden of your own?  Stepping out of your comfort zone might be a bit strange initially, but you’ll be one step closer to unlocking and finding purpose in life if you get out there and try new things.

There are TOO MANY things that you’d love doing that you don’t even know of… So, if you truly want to find your life purpose, then you must go experiment!
