May 2021 Monthly Blog Review

Did you achieve your monthly goals? So did I! Learn more about the goals I achieved and my plans for June in this monthly blog review.

When I rebooted riyahspeaks.com, I always wanted to keep my loyal readers and social media followers in the loop on how the blog performs each month. That’s why I started writing these monthly blog reviews. These monthly reviews help my readers see how the blog performed regarding its goals and what I can improve next month. In this monthly blog review, I will highlight some of my successes, including the 3 milestones I hit this month.

Before I get into sharing these accomplishments, let’s take a look at my May Stats.

Blog Review

Since I started publishing less, I noticed an uptick in blog traffic. I recently decided to publish only on Mondays and Thursdays at midnight for those not subscribed to the blog. Here is everything you need to know about the blog posts published in May.

My new strategy led to over 2,000 blog views! I’m so happy to see that people enjoy my work.

Sales Review

My newer Etsy products were a huge hit this month. In terms of revenue, I made over $150 in 15 sales. I think switching from selling on the blog to Etsy and Gumroad was a great decision.

Most Sold Product

This month, my most sold product was my Mental Health Matters t-shirt which I made in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. Also, I managed to make my first Ultimate Self Care Workbooksale.  If you want to support your favorite blogger, consider buying this shirt from me on Etsy or grabbing a copy of my workbooks and planners on Gumroad.

Major Wins

This month, I took some time to focus on increasing my SEO and increasing blog traffic. This resulted in two things:

  • My DA went up from a two to a nine.
  • Making my first sales on Etsy and Gumroad
  • Making over $150 on Etsy
  • The blog received over 2,000 views
  • I made more than my subscriber goal

I increased my DA by collaborating with other bloggers with a higher DA than me and getting my name out there. For example, I wrote two guest posts this month and worked on one blog post, part of a more significant collaboration. This helped people to discover my content more frequently and increased my daily blog views.

On Etsy and Gumroad, I marketed my products on all social media platforms and engaged with other small businesses outside the blogging community. I am surprised I made this much money in a single month. I wonder if I can make more next month.

June Blogging Theme

Since June is my birthday and Father’s Day, I decided to do something different. Instead of publishing a series of posts within one theme, I will write more personal stories and give you guys an inside look at who I am. I will also share some great Father’s Day gift guides and Ideas.

My June Goals

  • Make more than $200 in Etsy Sales
  • Sell more items on Gumroad
  • Increase blog traffic from Pinterest

Did you accomplish your monthly goals? Let me know in the comments.

  1. Wow, I love reading blog reviews such as these. Perhaps, I am a little too nosy for my own good! $150 on Etsy is really good. I wish my blog and Canva shop could pick up more, but I haven’t been doing as much as I should promoting either of them. Seems like whatever you’ve been doing is working out for you! Wishing you all the best with the blog, and happy birthday month, Riyah! 🙂

    1. Hi Ming! You should definitely get out there and promote your shop more. Thank you for the warm bday wishes.
