2022 July Monthly Blog Review

If I had to write on sentence in this monthly blog review about July, I couldn’t. I feel like July had its ups and downs, but I guess that’s like any month. Am I wrong? This month, I spent much time doing backhand blog work and focusing on my life coaching certification. I hope to have my life coaching business running by January 2023, just in time for the new year.

With my Dad suffering from stage 3 throat cancer, it’s been challenging to focus on myself. However, I’ve been doing everything I can to care for myself while being there for him physically and emotionally. Admittedly, it’s more complicated than it looks. But, with the support of my partner, therapist, and trusty journal, I’m getting through this.

Today, I will dive right into my July Monthly Blog Review and share some of the things that helped me navigate these difficult times.

How I Navigated These Difficult Times

After finding out about my Dad’s cancer diagnosis, it’s been hard not to dwell on it. My Pop is one of my favorite people on this entire Earth, and it saddens me to see him suffering this way. But, in a way, I also felt terrible because he doesn’t deserve this.

However, I’ve been learning how to manage these new emotions and navigate the difficulty of the situation. Although I’m not the person experiencing cancer, watching him endure this is difficult. I’ve experienced several episodes of burnout and depression, which I thought were abnormal initially.

But I realize I had a normal reaction to the situation and should’ve been a little nicer to myself. So, with that said, I wanted to share some of the things I did that helped and are still helping me to navigate through this moment.

  • Daily journaling that focuses on my emotional and mental wellbeing
  • Positive thinking techniques
  • Keeping myself busy
  • Taking a break away from the emotional stressor
  • Doing something fun for a change
  • Maintaining my usual routine
  • Reading some interesting mental health books online books
  • Binge-watching The Bachelorette
  • Not dwelling on those negative what-if scenarios
  • Allowing myself to feel emotional
  • Speaking to my therapist (although my last session didn’t go well).

What To Expect In August

August begins the back-to-school season and the earliest signs of fall. So, next month, I plan to center all my posts around back to school and productivity. I have a few mental health posts thrown in there as well.

If you follow me on social media, I’ll be talking a lot more about specific types of self-care surrounding the upcoming seasonal changes and increasing productivity while you’re in school or work.

How did you do this month? Did you hit all your monthly goals? Let me know in the comments.
